Antigenic variance.

چکیده
Antigenic variance may be defined as phenotypic expressions that are due to slight differences in gene sequences coding for viral proteins with antigenic reactivity (CALISHER 1988). Evidence for antigenic variance due to mutations and reassortment in the Bunyaviridae family is great and has been obtained by several different approaches. The main intent of this review, however, is not to discuss all the work that has led to the current proposed classification or to review all the papers describing antigenic variance of viruses in the family but to show how the use of monoclonal antibodies, oligonucleotide mapping, sequencing, etc., has led to a better·understanding of the relationships of the viruses within the various genera. It is also hoped that one will acquire a better understanding of the need to examine and compare these viruses at all levels from gene coding strategies and replication through structure and function of

Expression and Antigenic Evaluation of VacA Antigenic Fragment of Helicobacter Pylori
Objective(s): Helicobacter pylori, a human specific gastric pathogen is a causative agent of chronic active gastritis. The vacuolating cytotoxin (VacA) is an effective virulence factor involved in gastric injury. The aim of this study was to construct a recombinant protein containing antigenic region of VacA gene and determine its antigenicity. Materials and Methods: The antigenic region of V...
متن کاملN-Linked Glycosylation in the Hemagglutinin of Influenza A Viruses
Since the 1918 influenza A virus (IAV) pandemic, H1N1 viruses have circulated in human populations. The hemagglutinin (HA) of IAV determines viral antigenicity and often undergoes N-linked glycosylation (NLG) at several sites. Interestingly, structural analysis of the 1918 and 2009 H1N1 pandemic viruses revealed antigenic similarities attributable to the conserved epitopes and the NLG statuses ...
